In Stellies, wondering how you’ll show your love this Valentine’s Day? Mdzananda Animal Clinic & Shelter is hosting a picnic and all you need to bring is a blanket!

Stellenbosch, South Africa (22 January 2026) – Back by popular demand! Mdzananda Animal Clinic will be hosting another fun, family-friendly picnic. This time, on the most lovey-dovey day of the year!

The clinic has worked with animals in Khayelitsha for three decades. They serve the community with consultations, hospitilisation, operations, sterilisations, mobile clinics, an animal ambulance and adoptions. The team are also passionate about community education and inclusion to help pet owners become the best guardians they can be.

Every month, they help around 1500 animals.

Fundraising keeps their work afloat.

The team has decided to bring back their Picnic for Paws, which takes place on Valentine’s Day this year, at the idyllic Joostenberg Bistro & Deli.

“Last year’s picnic was incredibly special, with a wonderful turnout from our supporters. Funds raised helped us to continue our vital work in the community,” says Kelly Arendse, Fundraiser and Event Organiser. “We’re so excited to welcome everyone back for our Valentine’s edition this year – a celebration of love, community and compassion for animals.”

Picnic baskets packed with wonderful goodies are provided, best enjoyed with great company and loads of cuddles from Mdzananda’s dogs currently up for adoption.

“Guests are encouraged to attend with their partners, friends, families, or even solo, while enjoying a beautiful outdoor setting. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join their owners on the day.” shares the clinic.

All proceeds from the event will go directly towards supporting the vital work of Mdzananda’s veterinary care, shelter, and outreach services to animals in need. Get your tickets here!
