For the first single off their seventh studio album, Watershed channelled their creativity during lockdown into writing “Undone”, which pays homage to those emotions of uncertainty and confusion most of us felt when the pandemic hit our shores last year.

Johannesburg, South Africa (28 March 2021) – Uncertainty, confusion, unpredictable – these were just some of the phrases that dominated the headlines last year when the pandemic hit, and they’re also at the epicentre of Watershed’s new hit single “Undone” released on 26 March.

Most famous for their signature tune ‘Indigo Girl’ in 2002, Watershed became a ‘natural’ success when a German radio DJ heard the single whilst vacationing in South Africa and played it on the air in Germany. The band toured in June 2010 with MacStanley through Germany as part of the Rock Kick Off tour, which is hosted by German Music Television station Imusic1.

For the first single off their seventh studio album titled Elephant in the Room, lead singer and songwriter Craig Hinds channelled his creativity during lockdown into writing “Undone”, which pays homage to those emotions of uncertainty and confusion most of us felt when the pandemic hit our shores last year.

“At the time, like a lot of people, I was questioning everything that was going on,” explains Craig. “At the same time, you are also trying to keep things as normal as you can, even though you know that something is drastically wrong.”

It focuses on that feeling of unravelling because of this constant questioning, as seen in the lyric: “It’s got me hiding all my loved ones and trying to keep a smile on…”

“Undone” takes a more rock, up-tempo approach as opposed to the ballad you’d expect from a song that deals with such heavy source material.

“The band and our live shows have moved in that direction, and so we chose this track as the first single to set a certain tone for the whole album, which is more live and guitar-driven,” comments Craig.

“Undone” makes you want to get up and move, making it the perfect introduction to their full album, The Elephant in the Room album releasing on 7 May 2021.

The single is available on all digital platforms, including Spotify, Deezer, and iTunes, as well as CD and vinyl from the Watershed website (www.watershed.co.za).
