Get ready singletons; this Valentines Month Table Mountain is hosting the first-ever speed dating event on one of the 7 wonders of nature!

Western Cape, South Africa (02 February 2022) – February is the month of love, and the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) is setting the scene this Valentine’s Day at its first-ever speed dating event.

Table Mountain has become the single most welcoming icon to not only our people but travellers from all over the world. But this mountain hides many surprises that wait to be discovered. It is much more than a scenic photograph background or a place from where you can take a breathtaking photo of Cape Town. There are about 2,200 species of plants found on Table Mountain and 1470 floral species. Many of these plants and flowers are endemic to this mountain.

And now the mountain is going to be home to the first-ever speed dating event on one of the seven wonders of nature!

The exciting new dating experience on the top of Table Mountain will give a few lucky singles the chance to possibly meet someone special.

The two-hour event is named ‘Dating Above the Clouds’ and will run for three consecutive nights between 14 and 16 February, weather permitting. Each night, singles will be able to mingle with other potential suitors in the quest to make a romantic match.

Each night will have a specific theme:

  • 14 February: Hetero Singles
  • 15 February: LGBTQ+ Singles
  • 16 February: Seasoned Singles for people aged 50+

Each night will only cater for a limited amount of people, so you had best move fast to purchase your ticket. They cost R500 each and includes a return ticket for the cableway, two complimentary drinks, and a selection of snacks, including Korean fried chicken tacos and kale, broccoli, and butternut pasta, among other mouth-watering options. Only 28 tickets will be available each night to accommodate 14 pairs for the speed dating rounds.

Upon arrival, guests will be able to enjoy their complimentary drinks while Good Hope FM’s Dalin Oliver, the MC for each evening, eases the first date jitters with some comedy and icebreakers.

“The mountain is well known for its romantic setting, which has fueled plenty of proposals in the past. This month, we are bringing a new and fun way for all to enjoy this world-famous landmark. We hope this unique experience will draw more locals to the mountain for an exciting way to find love, or at least for a fun way to spend Valentine’s Day,” says Giselle Esau, Executive Head of Brand and Marketing at TMACC.

Speed-dating is fast-paced, and participants will have only a few minutes per date to make a good first impression. After the event, those whose profiles matched will be able to contact each other to arrange second dates.

For all events, TMACC will enforce all COVID-19 safety protocols to ensure the safety of visitors and staff members.

Ticket sales and Terms and Conditions are available on Webtickets.
