Paralympic medallist Louzanne Coetzee’s victory at the 2025 CUT Alumni Half Marathon highlights the limitless potential of athletes with disabilities.

Bloemfontein, South Africa (06 November 2025) – The Central University of Technology (CUT) recently celebrated the remarkable achievement of South African Paralympic athlete Louzanne Coetzee, who claimed first place in the Open Race Female Category at the 2025 CUT Alumni Half Marathon.

Louzanne, who was born with a visual impairment, has become one of South Africa’s most inspiring athletes, recognised for her determination and outstanding performances on the world stage. Her victory at CUT went beyond a sporting result. It was a reminder of the power of inclusion and the potential of human perseverance.

Having completed her studies at the University of the Free State, Louzanne’s continued success reflects her deep commitment to sport and education. Her journey has been defined by breaking barriers and redefining perceptions of ability, both within and beyond the Paralympic movement.

Her journey on the global stage has been nothing short of extraordinary. Over the years, Coetzee has proudly represented South Africa at multiple Paralympic Games. She earned a silver medal in the T11 1,500m and a bronze medal in the T12 marathon at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, before adding another bronze in the T11 1,500m at the 2024 Paris Games.

Her participation in the CUT Alumni Half Marathon brought together students, alumni, and community members in a shared celebration of achievement and inclusion. Her win served as living proof of what the university’s vision for inclusive sport seeks to promote. Just creating opportunities for all to excel, regardless of circumstance.

Louzanne’s story continues to inspire athletes across the country (and world). Showing that excellence has no limits, highlighting the importance of inclusion.
