The South African forward continues to shine in one of world football’s toughest leagues after securing a goal in Burnley’s Premier League game.
Global (28 January 2026) – South African striker Lyle Foster delivered another reminder of his growing influence in English football after coming off the bench to score for Burnley in their 2–2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Turf Moor.
Facing one of the Premier League’s heavyweights, Burnley found themselves trailing after Spurs opened the scoring through Micky van de Ven in the 38th minute. The home side responded just before the break, with defender Axel Tuanzebe restoring parity and setting up a lively second half.
Lyle was introduced late in the match by head coach Scott Parker, and it did not take long for the South African international to make his presence felt. With 14 minutes remaining, he was in the right place at the right time, finishing from close range to give Burnley a deserved goal and sending the home crowd into celebration.
Although Tottenham later found an equaliser to force a draw, Lyle’s goal was one of the standout moments of the match. It capped off another impressive performance from the 25-year-old, who has continued to adapt and thrive in one of the most demanding leagues in world football.
Burnley manager Scott Parker was full of praise for Foster’s impact.
“He made a big difference coming off the bench.”
Now, as the season progresses, Lyle’s performances suggest there may be many more big moments still to come.
