After an adoption fell through, the affectionate young pup is getting another chance to find his perfect family alongside many other rescue dogs in The Dogs Trust’s care.
Johannesburg, South Africa (01 July 2026) – After a difficult start, little Eddie is still waiting for the family he deserves. Not every rescue story has a happy ending straight away, but The Dogs Trust is hoping Eddie’s will be next.
The 10-week-old puppy has already overcome more than most dogs his age. After losing his mother when he was only a few days old, Eddie was hand-raised by dedicated caregivers and has since grown into an affectionate and playful puppy who is now ready to find his forever home.
His journey to adoption has not been without heartbreak. Eddie had already been reserved by a family who appeared committed to giving him a home, only for the adoption to fall through more than a week later.
Now thriving in foster care in Edenvale, Johannesburg, he has settled in beautifully and has been well socialised with children, other dogs and even cats. His gentle temperament and easy-going personality have made him a favourite among his carers, who believe he would fit perfectly into a loving family.

Believed to have a little Jack Russell in his mix, Eddie is expected to grow into a medium-sized dog.
