Heidelberg, South Africa (11 August 2020) – Whenever I think about my grandmother, I remember her Sunday lunches made with love and complete with something roasted for hours, potatoes, groenboontjies, pumpkin and pap en sous.
I would always go back for another round of pap en sous and could even eat it as an entire meal on its own.
It’s not often that I get the opportunity to taste a good old South African pap en sous nowadays, but a little company in Heidelberg caught my attention as they have recreated the delicious and homely dish… and turned it into something even more amazing called Papstix!
Papostix has created a patented, ready-to-eat, roll of maize meal with a tasty relish centre; the first convenience food made specifically with local food culture in mind. And they are delicious hot or cold.
A ready-to-eat meal-on-the-go consisting of a roll of pap with a delicious sauce in the middle – a new take on the traditional pap-en-sous! They come in 3 flavours: carrot chakalaka, tomato & onion, and chilli beef soya.

Distribution networks are still in the process of being set up in all the other provinces but at this stage, only bulk purchases of more than 2,500 stix can be purchased from the factory directly.
