Diane Shearer is a South African landscape artist who travels around South Africa to celebrate landscapes using pen and coloured pencils.
South Africa (18 February 2020) – Diane Shearer credits herself as a pretend Spiderman because she loves being outdoors, climbing through nature. As a nature lover, she spends as much time as possible outdoors hiking and climbing some of South Africa’s most beautiful landscapes.
The thing about being an outdoorsy person in South Africa is that you are deeply privileged by the views and natural spaces in which you can spend your time.
Diane has spent time all over South Africa including the Drakensberg, Table Mountain, Fish River canyon, the Karoo and more. She started expressing her love of these spaces by drawing them. The drawings celebrate the beauty of South African landscapes in a non-traditional artform.
“My art is inspired by time spent hiking, climbing and running in South Africa. I try to capture energy, light, weather and movement in my drawings.
I aim to create art that fellow nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts can relate to and enjoy.”
Diane has joined the ranks of other South Africans that are using art to spread the love and beauty of South Africa. She even gifts art to family moving away from home, so they always remember the beauty of their mother country!
