A perfectly timed freefall above Delmas has earned 26 skydivers a place in the national record books.

South Africa (29 October 2026) – South African skydiving has reached another thrilling milestone, and it happened with 26 people at a time!

Above Skydive The Ranch in Delmas, a team of 26 skydivers successfully completed a new South African two-point 26-way record, officially breaking the previous 24-way national mark.

The achievement has now been ratified by the Parachute Association of South Africa (PASA).

While the record’s official title is a mouthful, what happened in the sky was just 26 people trusting one another completely.

The challenge required the team to build one formation during freefall, release every grip, fly into new positions and reconnect to complete a second formation before opening their parachutes.

It sounds graceful. In reality, it demands split-second timing, complete awareness and absolute teamwork.

The jump itself relied on three aircraft flying in carefully coordinated formation, with pilots Matthew Miles, Warren Eva and Alru Scheepers playing a crucial role in getting everyone into exactly the right position before exit.

Flying alongside the group, videographer Roberto Pucci captured the entire attempt, providing the footage needed for the record to be officially verified. For the skydivers, though, the biggest victory wasn’t just adding another number to South Africa’s record books.

The team brought together jumpers from different drop zones across the country, each contributing their own experience while working towards one shared goal.

Large-formation skydiving leaves little room for individual glory. Every grip depends on someone else doing their job, and every successful transition is built on trust.

The new record marks another step forward for South African skydiving and gives the country’s freefall community something special to celebrate.

Warm congratulations go to all 26 record holders, the three pilots, Roberto Pucci and everyone at the Ranch who helped make this remarkable achievement possible!
