An artistic pursuit by Greatjoy Ndlovu hopes to provide free surgery and scholarships for children in need.

Tshwane, South Africa (05 July, 2023) — Artist Greatjoy Ndlovu sees his art as an opportunity to inspire impact. As a celebrated artist based in Johannesburg, Greatjoy has seen many facial expressions meet his work. Though many of his pieces are thought-provoking and cues for reflection, they also inspire smiles in the most literal sense.

Greatjoy has previously teamed up with Operation Smile to use his work to raise funds for children who do not have access to surgery for facial challenges like cleft lips. And, this year he’s got a massive smile goal as well as scholarship dreams.

As part of the ‘Leave a Legacy, Ubuntu Crowd Fund’ auction set to take place this Nelson Mandela Day, Greatjoy is putting 28 of his works on auction to raise R 2 million. Proceeds will go to Operation Smile and another benefactor, the Kay Mason Foundation.

The Kay Mason Foundation offers scholarships to schools across South Africa for students who don’t have the financial means to attend these establishments.

With every artwork set to go on auction valued at thousands of rands, the hope is that the event can make a lot of change and inspire other artists to use their powers for good as often as they can.

‘A Night of Great Joy’ will take place on 18 July at Rosemary Hill Farm in Tshwane and you can grab your tickets here.
