Maurice Anderson is an American that shocked many commuters when he took off his boots and gave them to a homeless man who was seeking shelter on the train. His act of kindness has inspired many!
Maurice Anderson was on the train on his way to visit his daughter. He had his luggage with him and was enjoying the commute. While seated on the train he noticed an elderly homeless man. The man had removed his swollen feet from a pair of running shoes and was busy trying to warm them up.
The man had a few layers of socks on which caused the running shoes to become very tight. The shoes had caused blisters and his foot had been bleeding through the layers of socks. They also suspected the man may have had frostbite.
Maurice couldn’t bare to sit and watch this man struggle with his shoes so he started to unlace his own boots, an expensive pair he had recently bought to help combat the cold. He asked the homeless man what size he was and luckily they were very close in size, with Maurice being half a size bigger.
Maurice handed his brand new boots over to the man and then opened his luggage and pulled out a pair of socks and a second pair of shoes.
“If you’ve got 20 pairs of shoes, you can only wear one at a time,”
“I wished I’d had more socks.” – Maurice Anderson
The winter and snow that have hit the United States have been exceptionally cold, with temperatures hitting below freezing many times.
It is a wonderful sight to see someone so selfless, especially when considering that Maurice is currently unemployed and looking for work. This bit of international good news really gave us a smile. Well done on your random act of kindness Maurice!
