Greg Rothquel and his daughter lost everything when a fire swept through their home so his boss set out to help them rebuild their lives.
Hangberg, Hout Bay – Greg Rothquel lost his timber home in the devastating fires that spread through Hangberg, Hout Bay late last year. He has worked for Animal Ocean for years so his boss decided to help him get back on his feet.
His boss, Alfred Steven Benjamin, provided him with funds to build a solid structure which is more viable than his old home. He lost everything in the fire and Alfred Steven Benjamin is hoping this will get him back on track.
“Greg has been part of the Animal Ocean Seal Snorkeling team since our days in the Hout Bay Harbour and has helped us and our clients over the years in maintaining the safety of their vehicles as well as operating as our handyman and general assistant.” – Alfred Steven Benjamin
This will be the first solid brick home Greg will have in his adult life, and he is excited to support his daughter through her last high school years in a more comfortable home environment.
Donations will be used to cover the remainder of the building costs and help cover Greg’s debt. The hope is that Greg and his daughter will have an established and dependable home before going into winter.
“We have already received support from our staff in contributing to some of the building costs, as well as furniture and clothing donations. Greg has been working with us for almost 5 years and we would love to continue assisting him in completing the building of this new home – with your help! We are doing all we can to help him live in a more comfortable and safe home environment. Thank you – it is very much appreciated!”
