Myra Marais was called out to rural Limpopo when she experienced a life-altering bond between a three-year-old and a fully grown Brahmans bull.

When veterinarian Myra Marais was called out to rural Limpopo to help a sick calf earlier this week, she didn’t know that it would involve a face-off with a pretty upset daddy.

“It’s been raining cats and dogs here in Limpopo so while I was examining the little calf in knee-high mud and shoulder high grass with the owner trying hard to keep its very protective mother from killing me, the bull decided that he’d had enough of me.”

“So this 650kg Brahman Bull comes charging towards me. As you know Brahmans aren’t to be messed with.”

“Out of the side of my eye comes this tiny little body who runs out and stands right in front of me, between the bull and I.”

“I’m screaming for him to move and he just stands there completely confident with one little hand up.

Like a movie, the bull skids to halt and kneels before the little boy …”

Below is a picture of brave little Wilson who is only 3 years old.

Man of the moment. Hero extraordinaire. It is understood that Wilson and this bull have grown up together and formed a strong bond. A true testament to the power of love.

Marais returned to the farm to thank Wilson but as she points out, how does one repay someone who saved your life?

“Today I returned with a gift for Wilson,” says Myra, “how many sweets is one’s life worth?”
