Debbi’s day took two unexpected detours, but a stranger named Ronald had her back. He went above and beyond to help.
Cape Town, South Africa (10 December 2025) – When Debbi hit a brick while driving at the Waterfront in Cape Town this week, she was left totally stranded in the middle of the road. Her tyre had burst, and just as she began panicking about ‘what next’, a stranger’s kindness led the way.
“I’m always so bowled over by kindness!” shared Debbi on Facebook, recalling the scenario. “This lovely man, an off-duty driver, stopped, put up his orange warning triangle and took me home to Mouille Point to collect my biscuit tyre and took me back to my car. He changed my tyre and did all that expecting nothing in return.”
Ronald stepped in with his orange triangle and drove Debbi all the way home to collect her spare tyre. Then, all the way back to help her change it out. Out of the goodness of his heart.
“We parted ways, both with us both feeling blessed. His appreciation for some petrol I paid for and mine for his time and kindness.”
Debbi, blown away by Ronald’s kindness, paid for his petrol and left him with a big box of biscuits. But the story doesn’t end there. Kindness works overtime.
Later that afternoon, Debbi realised it really wasn’t her day. She couldn’t find her purse anywhere. After retracing her steps and coming up short, she gave Ronald a ring.
“I retraced my steps and no one had seen it. I called him and he stopped his car and found it under the passenger seat, where I was sitting. Last night, after his VERY long day, he dropped it off for me before he finally headed home.” she shared.
And that’s how kindness won this week. Ronald went out of his way to save a stranger from stress. Twice.
