Three South Africans are being applauded for doing the right thing and returning the money found while washing a client’s car after it was serviced!
Rosettenville, South Africa – Sakhile Hadebe, Vincent Ndebele and Bhekumuzi Ndlovu are reminding everyday South Africans what it means to be honest and always do what is good and right!
The “Southern Courier” originally reported on the story when the three iPop Vehicle Sales employees found R13 000 under the carpet on the driver’s side of the car and immediately returned it to management.
Meyer Benjamin, the owner of the car dealership, was so taken by what his team did that he decided to celebrate them for their honesty and thank them for doing what most would not.
Thanking them in IsiZulu, Benjamin said it was an auspicious day for all of them. He said he was very happy to work with such great people.
“We are very proud of the three, they are reliable, but most of all, honest. Although the owner of the money didn’t give them anything to thank them, we took it upon ourselves to honour them. As a token of appreciation, we will give them each a R2 000 SPAR voucher and branded T-shirts with their names in front and ‘I’m proud, to be honest’ at the back. They are an inspiration to our fellow staff members,” he said.
Sakhile said for them it was work as usual because they are used to finding money, and valuables in cars they wash after being serviced.
“Even though we are used to getting money and valuables in cars, we always return them to the manager. However, it was the first time we found such a substantial amount. We took it to our superiors for safe return to the owner. We never expected what the management did for us and we really appreciate the good gesture,” he said.
Some may ask why a story like this matters and the reality is that there are more than enough news reports where people who lose R100 never see it again, but it is stories like these that remind us that even in the worst of news… there is always a bit of good!
