The gift of cataract surgery was more than just a medical procedure; it was a restoration of dignity and a return to independence for Nokhuba Dabulamanzi, whose life unexpectedly became a blur four years ago.

Eastern Cape, South Africa (18 February 2025) – Four years ago, Nokhuba Dabulamanzi’s world, as he knew it, was turned completely upside down. A dark cloud cast over him, quite literally darkening everything in sight.

Nokhuba had started experiencing deteriorating eyesight before becoming completely blind two years ago, seeing only faint shadows on his right.

According to Grace Vision, the 69-year-old has been stuck at home most of this time since sadly losing his vision.

With his condition, Nokhuba hasn’t been able to do much in terms of working or doing tasks around the house, often left feeling like a burden to his family. His wife bravely shouldered the responsibilities of their home and made sure the rest of the family was well taken care of and provided for.

Although the past few years have been difficult for Nokhuba and his family, he’s grateful to have had his devoted wife in his corner, supporting him day by day.

But even in the deepest darkness, hope flickered for the Dabulamanzis.

After much hardship, things are now looking up for the family thanks to the support of Grace Vision, who played a crucial role in ensuring Nokhuba received cataract surgery at Zithulele Mission Hospital.

More than just a medical treatment, the surgery has answered Nokhuba’s desperate, silent prayers—restoring not only his vision but also his dignity as a family man and allowing him the comfort of navigating independently.
