They face various hardships every day, but this Easter, children from various KZN townships got to be carefree kids and dig into all the yummy goodies which are often their only Easter treats, making them feel truly special.
KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (23 April 2025) – Over the past Easter weekend, chocolates, hot cross buns, Easter eggs and other goodies overflowed in many households; the reality was starkly different for some.
However, thanks to those who remembered the many children raised in underprivileged homes in the areas of Quarry Heights, Ntuzuma, Khabazela and Mount Royal in KwaZulu-Natal, they too, got to experience the joy of these simple yet significant sweet treats.
With donations and deliveries from Hands and Hearts, The Angel Network Durban and Singakwazi Aid to the Mission Thando South Africa charity, Easter joy was not only restored but overflowed as the kids’ faces lit up with excitement upon receiving Easter eggs.
It was a moment that heartwarmingly demonstrated how the little things can really mean the most, especially to a child who could do with all the joy and thoughtfulness that comes their way.
“For many of our kids from underprivileged communities, Easter eggs represent more than just a sweet treat. They symbolise love, care, and a sense of belonging. In many cases, these eggs might be the only Easter gift they receive, making them feel special and remembered,” shares Mission Thando.
Mission Thando thanked its partner organisations for their kindness, which has helped spread love and joy to those who need it most.
