An internationally acclaimed actress
Connie won many awards throughout her illustrious acting career and was prominently known for her film roles in Black Panther, Black Is King and Blessers.
On television, she appeared in local shows; Gomora, Yizo Yizo 2, Zone 14, Rhythm City and Queen Sono.
A mother to many
News of her passing shocked and saddened many people across the nation who had come to not only love her captivating roles but also the warm and loving motherly figure she played off-screen too.
Reflecting on Connie’s maternal nature was local actress, Refilwe Madumo in a heart-tugging social media post.
“Ous Connie was my first TV mom. I met her on the set of Mazinyo dot Q when I was an unsure, very young actor, barely out of my teens. She saw my uncertainty and very quickly told me that I belonged. She took her role as my mother very seriously – on and off set,” Refilwe reflected.
She went on to describe Connie as gracious, powerful and funny and mentioned how she always checked up on her to make sure she was eating well.
“She was quick with her “I love you’s” and wanted her kisses on the lips. She raised so many of us. Thank you for showing us that there is room enough for all of us here. Thank you for your spirit, which was always full of wonder and excitement.
“Thank you for your quick smiles. You said ‘Others will look up to you one day the way you look up to me. Make sure you show them something beautiful’. You were marvellous Mama,” Refilwe added.
Connie’s profound impact on the lives of many will forever be cherished.
