A heartbreaking plea to find the “Angels” that gave this Capetonian family an extra 24 hours with their loved one before he passed away, is going viral.
Last week Sunday on the 22 January 2018 between 8.30 and 9 pm, a tragic and fatal car accident took place on Constantine Neck road towards Hout Bay involving Roxanne Jacobs’ 25-year-old brother Daniel Jacobs.
Seconds after the unfortunate incident had happened, the driver from the other car, young traumatised and injured saw that Daniel had been badly hurt and instinctively tried to help him.
He flagged a couple down who agreed to take Daniel to the hospital. They raced to the emergency room and once Daniel had been admitted, left without a trace.
Daniel tragically lost his life, but the family have been searching for the “couple with the bakkie” ever since to thank them for their act of kindness.
Roxanne took to Facebook with a heartbreaking plea to find the “Angels” who gave her an extra 24 hours to say goodbye to her brother.
“I need this post to go VIRAL VERY QUICKLY PLEASE GUYS AND GALS SHARE AND RE-SHARE
Last week Sunday, the 22 January 2018 between 8.30pm and 9pm, a tragic and fatal car accident took place on Constantine Neck Road towards Hout Bay with my brother Daniel Jacobs.
Just after the accident happened, the young injured and traumatized driver of the involved and smashed vehicle, saw that Daniel was hurt drastically, and then instinctively picked up my brother’s lifeless, bloody, broken and badly bruised body in his arms.
He flagged down a vehicle who kindly stopped and allowed the driver to place my brother in the back of the bakkie. The couple then rushed him to the Constantiaberg ER. They handed him to the Doctors and Nurses and once they were sure he was safe, the couple vanished without a trace, as if they were Angels sent from above.
Tragically my brother Daniel lost his life in that accident.
But we, the Family of Daniel, need to and want to find this couple to thank them for unselfishly giving us 24 hours extra with my brother.
Because of there unselfish kindness, we all got to say goodbye to this amazing person, who in his passing, gave life to so many people through his organs being donated. If this couple in the bakkie did not do what they did we would have not gotten to say goodbye to our Dancing Dan.
Please help us find this couple I need to thank them for all they did.”
As tragic as the story is, the post has been going viral with people sharing the message on Social Media and via Whattsapp messages. Please help Roxanne and her family find these Angels by sharing this story… and if you are the couple in the bakkie, then email us here to get in touch with the Jacobs family.
Update on this story:
Roxanne has confirmed via her Facebook that she was able to find the Angels that helped her brother.
“The angels of mercy have been located, the compassionate and unselfish couple that assisted at Daniel accident scene are true heroes. THANK you to all who shared the post and got it going viral. I am truly grateful. I can now say that I am at peace with Daniel’s passing and I have found the closure I needed so badly to accept what happened. I will never be able to thank these True angels for what they did but I forever will be in their debt. May God Almighty bless you all for helping me locate them. THANK YOU”
This is truly an incredible gift the Jacobs family have given to others. I commend them on their selflessness.
Thank you also to the couple who made it possible for them by getting Daniel to hospital timeously.

My name is Anthony Breakey and on the 23/1/18 during the afternoon I was blessed with the gift of life, a transplanted heart at Netcare CBMH which has allowed me to breathe again and has allowed me to spend some more time with my daughters and wife, I may not have been afforded. I’ve had end stage heart failure since 2008. I’m not saying my gift of life is from Daniel, but I do know the donor was 25 years old and was told he had travelled a lot and had a very kind smile. I’m really writing this to say how incredibly sad I am for your loss, pain and suffering and what a wonderful human being Daniel is to have wanted others to live even if he couldn’t. I also heard that the donor donated more organs for other dying patients who were saved! What better gift is there to give than the gift of life?! God bless you Daniel, your family and friends and may He keep you all close together forever. With love from a Blessed/Eternally Grateful Donor Recipient. If any of you would like to follow in this heroes footsteps, contact the ODF – Organ Donor Foundation of SA and they will assist you in signing up in no time! God bless and protect us all. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
It is my intention to honour this heart till my last breath, thereby bringing honour to a most honourable act of love. Whether or not I ever find my Donor I will cherish and love your selfless, kind and caring act of love with all that I can muster! Until we meet again. 🙋🙏🙋

Hi Roxanne I see you have Sunday dated 22nd of Jan in your article, but I think it was the 21. My heart transplant took place on Tuesday the 23rd at Netcare CBMH. I have already written a Thank you card to the caring and kind Donor, and if it is your brother I am so so very very grateful. Words are hard to come by in times like these, but Thank you kindly and know that I will cherish and honour Daniel’s heart to my last breath. I’m neither a drinker nor smoker and know that God is my Saviour. With love and best wishes always. Anthony
Hello Anthony I received a thank you card.
Dear Marion, I’m so relieved and happy that you received my thank you card. I assume you were Daniel’s Mom? I want you to know that I’m eternally grateful for Daniel’s ultimate gift of life to me and I often pray for him and your whole family. I sometimes listen to Elton John’s song Daniel and cry for your loss and pain. Please know that I will honour Daniel’s heart to the day I die. May God bless you and your whole family always. Thank you!
Hi Anthony…the first anniversary has just past…and I’m thinking of the excitement your wife and family must of felt…they were close to losing you….and here their prayers were answered…today I’m grateful for your recovery and when we meet one day I’m sure to give you a big hug so that I can hear his heartbeating…have you had a look at his fb page? You can somehow get to know him by looking at his pictures…He was my son and my best friend.
We donated everything the hospital would have…organs corneas skin and tissue and all organ recipients are doing well..take care
Marion Jacobs
That’s how Daniel got his name…We had a sing a long and he was about to be born and we hadn’t decided on a name…so at the end of the evening the whole family decided that he was going to be called Daniel…and they committed to sing it at his 21st…which we all did…happy memories..
Dear Marion, what a wonderful surprise to see your messages, I never thought I’d hear from you, as I can only imagine the pain you have endured in Daniel’s passing. It was only by chance that I came across your messages right now. I’m adding my cell number to this message and you are welcome to WhatsApp or SMS me if you’d like to. I am doing so well, Daniel’s heart took to me immediately and my Doctor, Susan Vosloo said his heart was a perfect match. I am back home in George since the end of last year and have become active as an Organ Donor Foundation Volunteer around the Southern Cape. I thank you for wanting to meet with me, as I too would like very much to meet you too in the not too distant future. There are 2 things I want to tell you about my journey with Daniels heart, but can only tell you in person as it is nothing short of miraculous and writing it wouldn’t do it justice. I look forward to hearing from you. My cell number is: 082 744 4920. May God Bless you and all your loved ones, I continue to keep you and your family, including Daniel in my prayers. Kindest Regards. Anthony Breakey
