A 14-year-old boy named Daniel Tselchous has shown incredible compassion and initiative by raising R12,400 for the Little Eden Society. His generosity and drive to help others remind us that even small acts of kindness can really touch lives.
Edenvale, South Africa (29 November 2024) – After witnessing first-hand the incredible work being done at the Little Eden Society, 14-year-old Daniel Tselchous was moved to contribute toward supporting the many children and adults facing challenges.
Little Eden Society is a non-profit organisation that has been providing lifelong care to children and adults living with profound intellectual disability for the past 57 years.
Showing extraordinary compassion and innovation, Daniel managed to raise R12,400 for the organisation, which currently provides loving care to 300 residents.
The young do-gooder, whose family has long supported Little Eden, chose the organisation as part of his school, St. Benedict’s College’s community service project and explained that the time that he spent at the facility was both enlightening and inspiring.
The visit inspired him to make a difference. With support from his father, Daniel organised a raffle fundraiser and approached vendors at various local markets, where his father sells products, to donate items to create a prize hamper.
According to the organisation, the response he received towards the fundraising raffle was amazing, with the market community contributing goods worth almost R19,000.
This generosity enabled Daniel to offer three impressive prize hampers and set an ambitious fundraising target of R50,000.
Daniel spends his weekends enthusiastically selling raffle tickets, showcasing not only his entrepreneurial spirit but also his deep commitment to helping others.
Little Eden Society CEO, Ann Coetzee, commended Daniel’s efforts, stating:
“Daniel’s initiative is a shining example of how one individual, even a young student, can make a significant impact in the lives of others. His creativity and dedication inspire us all.”
