Tertius Van Staden has been battling stage 4 rectal cancer for some time now and his treatment has come to an end – he is taking his battle to the next level.

Johannesburg, South Africa (18 March 2024) – Tertius Van Staden got the devastating news that his stage 4 cancer had crossed over to terminal. He had been receiving treatment at the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town when the update to his diagnosis came, his doctors explained there wasn’t much else they could do.

Heartbroken, Tertius set sights on home and being near his friends and family in Johannesburg. Everyone who had been supporting his journey through the “Starfish Project” were left feeling shocked by the turn of his condition.

“I was encouraged to get a second opinion from my inner circle and took that advice. The second opinion was life changing in that this is not the end for me and there is hope through intensive Chemotherapy as well as Immunotherapy which we needed to start asap.”

Tertius is determined to live and to get the treatment that will help him reach that goal. He sought a second opinion, and Immunotherapy in combination with chemo is the current treatment plan; however, he needs to fund this privately.

“I am reaching out to everyone in this extremely trying time to please help me get the help I need to live! I have so much more to give in life.

I am still young and have an opportunity to live after being told the opposite. I can and will fight this and need your help to get the proper treatment. I am unable to walk currently and have not been able to work since the extreme pain started a few months ago.”

Tertius needs to raise R480,000 for treatment and living expenses to cover the duration of his next-level battle. Friends have reached out to Good Things Guy for help in sharing Tertius’ battle.
