Tamara Wallis is hoping to raise R300,000 so that a family involved in a tragic truck accident, can be moved to the same hospital.

Boksburg, South Africa (05 April 2023) – The Kraft family has been through the worst three days, after being involved in an accident with a truck. They have been rocked to the core and are not able to be together as they are in separate hospitals. Family friend Tamara Wallis started a crowdfund to cover the cost of getting them into the same hospital.

Mom and Grandmother Chareen Kraft (39) was driving along with Shelby Wallis (19) and the grandchildren Divan (17 months) and Dante (2 weeks) when the car was hit by a truck. According to Tamara, the truck drove right over the car.

The family were rushed to the hospital and treated for the most horrific injuries. Tamara shared the heartbreaking news that while baby Dante was being seen to, it was discovered he had bleeding on the brain and no brain activity. By the afternoon, he could fight no more and passed away.

Shelby was left shocked at the news, nursing her own injuries and unable to be with her baby before his death. She is currently in a different hospital from Divan and after facing the loss of Dante, just wants to be with her boy. Tamara started the crowdfund in the hopes of getting Shelby into the same hospital as Divan.

“Divan has suffered a broken hip and is traumatised from the accident and constantly wakes in fear reliving the trauma and his Dad is by his side constantly while still mourning his son and trying to support his Fiance and split his time between two hospitals.

Shelby has a very serious, deep cut on her upper thigh to her knee and will require surgery.

Chareen has two broken arms, broken legs and a broken hip and will require orthopedic care.

They do not have medical aid and are currently in Tambo Memorial.

They have already suffered so much with the loss of Dante and I would like to lessen the burden for them and ensure good medical care and rehabilitation as well as trauma counselling if needed.

Divan is currently in private care and I would like to get them transferred to the same hospital so they can be together as a family.

I would like to get them all transferred to Rose Acres in Germiston so they can be together.”

Tamara shares that Shelby is a kind person and a loving mother. Chareen equally, is a devoted mother and grandmother. Reuniting the family is the top priority.

“The journey ahead for this family is still long and it will be weeks before they can be out of hospital if they dont receive proper medical care.

A memorial for their heavenly angel Dante will be done as soon as they are able to be released from hospital.

All five of these people have had their lives changed in an instant.

They are my family and I kindly ask if you would help them in whichever possible.”
