A single mom in Fourways shared her encounter with a gentleman who selflessly got her car running and then followed her home to be sure she didn’t have any more trouble.

Cindy Rondel shared a story on her local community Facebook page (I love Fourways) to say thank you to a man that went out of his way to help a single mom. The mom was having some car trouble and while she attempted to get help from passers-by, nobody would stop to listen.

Cindy called the story ‘A day in the life of a single mom in Fourways’ and many of the group members have praised the hero who ‘saved the day’.

Her car wouldn’t start at the Buzz Shopping Centre and all the single mom needed was a jump start. Every guy that she tried to stop ignored her, presuming it was just ‘another scam’. A friend eventually got the the scene to assist and thankfully got the car started but just after the mom was on her way to another friend to pick up jumper cables, the car stalled again.

But this time, after so much frustration, one guy did stop to help. And Cindy couldn’t have been more thankful to meet Simphiwe.

“Simphiwe from Inyati Sands you are a star! Thank you for stopping to help.

After getting the car started, Simphiwe offered to follow Cindy home, just in case she stalled again.

“We are all so quick to judge, and yes assuming the worst with so many scammers but how about we stop with the race issues and fighting.

No other man would help, and who would offer to follow a woman home to ensure that she is safe when you know there ia a problem with the car stalling!!! Here’s to you Simphiwe you ROCK… you made our day.”

The community has been praising Simphiwe’s actions, calling him a hero without a cape. Others have been inspired to start a single moms group for moments like these. One woman even offered to drop off a new set of jumper cables for the mom.

Not all superheroes wear capes! So glad you had an awesome gentleman help you guys.” – Casey Macaulay

Well done Simphiwe! It is great people like you that make us proud.” – Efthimia Tzetis

It is the small acts of kindness that make us smile the most.
