In a heartwarming act of kindness, the Collen Mashawana Foundation and its partners have brought joy to the life of 78-year-old Nomasongololo Ntunja. After a devastating fire destroyed her home earlier this year, leaving her and her family in a state of despair, the foundation stepped in to rebuild their lives.
Cape Town, South Africa (11 December 2024) – Yesterday was a very special day for Gogo Nomasongololo Ntunja, whose fervent prayers for a new home were finally answered.
A moment that will forever be etched in the grateful gogo’s heart. Gogo Nomasongololo received the keys to her new place to call home, rebuilt and handed over by the Collen Mashawana Foundation (CMF) and its partners after the house tragically succumbed to a fire earlier this year due to a fire.
Providing the family with a heartfelt gift for the festive season, Nomasongololo, her son who has tuberculosis, and her three grandchildren can now breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy their new space after months of uncertainty, desperation and struggle.
This generous gift of a solid foundation, four walls and a roof has not only provided shelter but has also restored hope and dignity to the family.
“This project honours a promise we made when we met the family a few weeks ago. The rebuild included vital services such as running water, sanitation, and electricity to ensure their health and comfort.
“Owning a home brings dignity, fosters a sense of belonging, and provides a sense of security. Congratulations Gogo Ntunja. We love you,” said CMF.
