There are two wonderful ways to help Cupcakes of Hope spread joy to little cancer patients this festive season; no baking skills required.

South Africa (12 December 2024) — Like most of us, non-profit and PBO Cupcakes of Hope can’t believe how quickly the year has gone. Just yesterday, it seemed they were rallying all the cupcake champions across the country for National Cupcake Day!

Following the success of this initiative (over R2 million was raised for little cancer patients to help them fund treatments and other means of imperative support), the organisation is hoping to end off the year brightly.

This festive season, there are two wonderful ways to support their mission to give more young cancer patients and their families as much support as possible. The good news for the non-bakers among us? No baking skills are required.

Get the Cupcake Angels Moving!

This year, Cilo Cipriano (founder Sandy’s husband) raced the Cape Epic like a superstar alongside his race partner Sylvia Van Tromp, raising funds for the charity’s very first vehicle.

He was able to raise R200,000 of the R300,000 total—a massive accomplishment! The vehicle has plans to be used for Oncology families who need transport to get them to their various appointments and checkups, as well as for when patients are treated to spoil sessions or when the angels need to deliver care bags.

The shortfall means there is still time to help install a hydraulic lift for the new wheels to make it wheelchair-friendly for certain patients.

Anyone able to contribute toward the difference can reach out to sandy@cupcakesofhope.org .

The Christmas Drive

The aim for Cupcakes of Hope this year is to deliver 600 Christmas Christmas Activity Packs to 21 paediatric oncology wards across South Africa. Thus far, they are just over the halfway mark, hoping that they’ll be able to spread joy like icing sooner rather than soon.

“Your support will not only brighten their Christmas but also bring smiles to the faces of so many families facing difficult times. These gifts are a reminder that no one is alone in their fight, and your kindness will make that possible,” shares founder Sandy Cipriano.

Bags can be sponsored for just R150 here.
