The owner of the Hard Pressed Cafe in Cape Town shared a moving account of how he opened his restaurant to homeless people and gave them a meal to remember.

Yaron Wiesenbacher, the owner of the Hard Pressed Cafe, shared a moving account about how he opened up his restaurant to four homeless people. He treated them with dignity and respect, learning more about the importance of giving.

Yaron took to Instagram to share the story and said it was the best night he has ever had! Read his inspiring story below:

“A couple of weeks ago, a friend came to me with an idea. The idea was to give a few homeless people a meal. But not just a meal.”

“A full dining experience with it.”

“Where they could sit down, order what they wanted to drink, be waited on, have starters, a main course and even desert.”

“I loved the idea and we put the plan into action.”

“We prepared a simple 3 course meal, laid a table cloth down and put some flowers on it. Simple.”

“Then we went out into street and walked around to look for 4 dinner guests. This was the most difficult part of the evening, but it really wasn’t that difficult.”

“We chose our guests wisely and then we headed back to shop with them to serve them their meal.”

“Words don’t do justice to how special it was.”

“As amazing as it was for the people we chose to give the experience to, the whole experience was just as amazing for me because it taught me a valuable lesson.”

“A lesson that the gift itself is not important.”

“It’s how you give that gift that makes all the difference.”

“In all the years I’ve been serving people food, I have never ever felt as good as I did while preparing those meals.”

“Some of the best nights I have ever had in this city happened to be on First Thursday.”

“But that was the best one.”

A friend captured the moment the four diners sat down at the table and the sheer joy on their faces. This is the image you can see above.

We love this story, it shows true South African spirit and we hope that it inspires many more to take on this beautiful task.
