What does it take to rise from a rural childhood to the global spotlight? For Cynthia Dumakude, the answer has always been purpose. And now, the world finally knows her name.
KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (29 December 2025) – When Cynthia Dumakude walked onto the international stage to represent Africa at Ms Transcontinental 2026, she carried more than a title. She carried a story of resilience, sacrifice and a decade of work that no panel of judges could ever fully measure.
Her win is being celebrated across the world but its meaning is anchored right here at home.
Cynthia’s coronation as Ms Transcontinental 2026 is the culmination of years spent building something far greater than a public profile. Before the global stage, before the sash and crown, she spent her time in communities, boardrooms, and classrooms, leading projects that changed lives one act of service at a time.
Her rise began gaining wider recognition in 2024 when she won the Mrs Bold title, a platform built on empowerment rather than spectacle. From there, she leaned into purpose: Easter drives, school shoe initiatives, dignity packs for girls, wheelchair donations, winter warmth campaigns, and youth programmes designed to give skills, not just slogans. Each initiative was rooted in the same belief: upliftment is a strategy, and kindness is not a soft skill, it is a force.
“This win is not just for me, it’s for every woman who has ever doubted her strength,” she says. “I’m honoured to represent Africa and to bring this story home to my Wild Coast Sun family.”
Her professional life reflects the same ambition. With more than ten years in marketing, Cynthia used her industry knowledge to shape her own journey. She developed a personal brand with intention, built authentic visibility and shared her story in a way that invited others in. Brand authenticity. Consistency. Purpose-led storytelling… these weren’t buzzwords, they were the blueprint.
And it paid off.

She returned to South Africa with an international crown and a new perspective that strengthens her work at Wild Coast Sun, where she serves as Resort Marketing Manager. Her colleagues and leadership are not only celebrating her win, but the insight, passion and example she brings home with it.
“Cynthia’s story is one of resilience, ambition and true transformation,” says Helen Stewart, Chief Marketing Officer at Sun International.
“She has shown how powerful authentic branding and consistent storytelling can be not only in her personal journey, but in how she approaches her work in marketing. Her achievement reflects the excellence we strive for at Sun International and we are proud to support and celebrate her success.”
Wild Coast Sun General Manager, Tshegetso Boekhouer, shares the pride.
“Cynthia’s achievement is a shining example of what dedication, passion, and perseverance can produce. She is not only a remarkable ambassador for Africa on the global stage but also a proud representative of Wild Coast Sun. We are inspired by her journey and celebrate the positive impact she continues to make within our organisation and beyond.”
But ask Cynthia where the true win lies, and she won’t point to the international stage. She’ll point to her roots. A rural village that raised her. The role of a single mother that shaped her. The moments of doubt that forced her to build confidence from scratch. The community members and colleagues who believed in her, even when the path looked uncertain.
“My journey has taught me that our stories matter, not because they are perfect, but because they show what is possible when we refuse to give up,” she shares.
“I hope my achievement reminds every woman, every young girl and every mother juggling life and responsibility that your dreams are still valid. This is only the beginning and I am committed to using my platform to uplift, empower and inspire wherever I go.”
Cynthia Dumakude walked onto a global stage representing Africa. She walked off representing what’s possible.
