Mrs Howick ends her 23 years of service as a grade 3 teacher with one last warm welcome at school!
KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (15 December 2025) – We know that teachers often give far more of themselves than the job description ever suggests. So when a school pauses to properly honour its long-serving leaders before they go, it’s always heartwarming, and so well-deserved.
At Howick Prep School, that pause was taken for Mrs Murray last week. And how they pulled it off was so special.
After 27 years of nurturing young minds, Mrs Murray arrived at school on her last day, met by all of her pupils, gathered to honour their teacher’s care and kindness before she sets off on a new chapter.
There were flowers, a sea of adorable well-wishes and smiles.
“After 27 years of devoted service, we say a heartfelt farewell to Mrs Murray as she begins her well-deserved retirement. As a Grade 3 teacher, she played a special role in guiding and nurturing young learners during such an important stage of their schooling journey.” the school shared.
“Her dedication, patience, and care have left a lasting impact on countless children, many of whom will remember her influence for years to come. Thank you, Mrs Murray, for your commitment to our school and for the difference you have made in so many young lives. We wish you a joyful and relaxing retirement filled with happiness and new adventures.” it added.
Twenty-seven years of shaping young minds, friends. Years that can be measured in impact, encouragement, understanding, care. And demerits (for some of us!).
