The staff and learners of Rand Park High School created a never-before-seen farewell tunnel to honour Mrs Jenny Van Rensburg’s retirement after 43 years of heartfelt devotion.
Randburg, South Africa (04 December 2025) – In another one of those heartwarming moments of honouring teachers who do more than just teach, but leave a mark on young hearts, Rand Park High School (RPHS) recently celebrated Mrs Jenny Van Rensburg on the occasion of her retirement and over 40 Years of Service.
In a touching tribute, the staff and learners gathered outside, forming the longest farewell tunnel of learners ever seen at Rand Park, applauding and bidding her farewell as she walked out of the school she had devoted herself to for 43 years!
It was a true reflection of the love and admiration the school community has for her.
“Mrs Van Rensburg is admired for her wisdom, her genuine love and care for our learners, and the calm, steady mentorship she has offered in both the classroom and the staffroom,” Rand Park High said.
Mrs Van Rensburg was the Head of the Life Sciences Department, a Grade Tutor, and the driving force behind the Debutantes and Squires Fundraising Programme over many years.
“Under her leadership, this programme raised a phenomenal R7,817,085.51 — an achievement made possible through her dedication, the support of her fundraising coordinators, and the learners and their parents who worked tirelessly alongside her.”
The exceptional educator is commended for her commitment to discipline, classroom management and school strategy, which has shaped generations of learners and educators, and contributed meaningfully to the school that RPHS is today.
On the sports field, she was a great squash player and long-standing coach and manager of the sport at RPHS. She shared her passion generously, inspiring countless learners to take up and enjoy the game.
“Mrs Van Rensburg poured her heart into Rand Park. Her presence, leadership and kindness will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the lives she touched. Thank you, Mrs Van Rensburg, for everything,” the school concluded.
The video post has garnered over 121K views on Facebook with loving praise from past learners who shared the lasting impact the heart of Rand Park had on them.
Quintin Earle shared:
“Absolute best teacher I’ve ever had. She’s probably the only reason I actually tried in Biology and never dropped or gave up on it. Enjoy your retirement, you absolutely deserve it! Thank you for being my rock and for your wisdom.”
A Noma Ntshingila also shared how much she was inspired by her love for squash:
“This woman inspired a love for squash in me that still lives, 16 years later. I don’t know if our teachers really know how much they do for us.”
Mrs Van Rensburg was and is truly one of the greats! We wish her all the best on her deserved retirement.

Mrs Van Rensburg truly was a great teacher. She was absolutely devoted to each of her learners, myself included. She was so devoted that she even offered to personally collect my school work from me during the covid-19 lockdown period in 2020.
She consistently motivated us, her class, to work as hard as we could. She lovingly corrected and encouraged me whenever I fell short, yet also praised me at every improvement.
I didn’t always understand this to be good, but year after year of being in her class, I finally understood, that yes, she was stubborn, and there was no time to waste in her class, but it was exactly this that made her the great teacher she was, and strengthened my love for biology.
I truly admire her and will forever be grateful for her unfailing devotion as my teacher. Thank Mrs Van Rensburg.
