Joburg Ballet

The Joburg Ballet has shared a powerful performance about Women’s Abuse, the message is that together we are stronger! Let’s stand together and support the fight against abuse.

Our readers were awe-inspired by the Joburg Ballet Rain Dance and many expressed their wishes to see more. We are always happy to grant wishes and so we are sharing yet another beautifully performed art piece with a strong message.

The Joburg Ballet started its ‘Bite Size Ballet’ series to promote the big news of the day in a short but impactful way. The pieces they choreograph have real meaning and are aimed at creating a conversation.

We decided to go back to the beginning and work our way up to the Rain Dance. The Rain Dance video was number 5 in the series. The first was a piece dedicated to the Game of Thrones season 7 and the second was inspired by the ‘Money Fight’. These two videos were aimed at the trending topics of the day.

It was the third, fourth and fifth videos that hit our hearts, made our hair stand on end and truly inspired us! Today we are featuring video number 3 for you.

“There were some high profile cases of violence against women in August – especially heartbreaking seeing as it was Women’s Month. And these were just the stories that we heard about. For so many women across South Africa, living with abuse and fear is a daily reality.”

“As Women’s Month comes to an end, let’s continue the conversations that we’ve started. If you or someone you know is in trouble, speak out. Call LifeLine on 0800 150 150.”

The message in the video is clear, standing together and speaking out is the only way to stop abuse in its tracks. As the Ballet has confirmed above, there is a help centre ready to take your calls and help: LifeLine on 0800 150 150.
