Here is a “Gunsteling” story that’ll make your heart sing! Nine-year-old twins Luca and Finn Human-Maré were already obsessed with the catchy hit by musician Keith Juluka, but when they got to meet and perform with him, the whole school erupted in song!

Johannesburg, South Africa (24 April 2025) – It’s not every day that you get to meet one of your favourite musical artists and have them perform your favourite song of theirs, on stage, in front of all your friends!

Nine-year-old, Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys Grade 4 twins Luca and Finn Human-Maré had this exact dream come true when they got a visit from musician, Keith Juluka.

The fascination with Keith and his “funny” music goes back to December 2024, during the school holidays in Stilbaai when the twins were first introduced to his hit song Gunsteling by their cousins.

Needless to say, the song stuck!

“They couldn’t stop singing it. They have recorded various versions of their own – on the beach, for the new year, for Valentine’s Day and more,” shares Luca and Finn’s mom, Liani Maré.

The kids took their Gunsteling obsession one step further by reaching out to Keith, who kindly agreed to do a video with them. Of course, they were over the moon!

“They couldn’t believe it when they met Keith for the first time.

“The whole school now sings Gunsteling on the bus to sports matches, at school and in the classroom,” shares Liani.

The ultimate heartwarming surprise was when Keith recently made an appearance at their school and shared the stage with Luca and Finn, belting out the catchy tune! Naturally, the other pupils also sang along, word for word!

Keith even dedicated a special song to the school principal, Meneer Martin Bensch, for his birthday too!

Beyond the buzz of it all and the twins’ impressive TikTok following, the special encounter made proud mom, Liane, realise that taking the time to do something which brings happiness to others means the world. This is what Keith did for so many little people.

“For little kids, who support our artists and their music, it creates memories for a lifetime.

“Keith makes people laugh. He makes funny songs. The world needs more of that. This guy did a good thing. South Africans are lekker!”
