Caring community members from Kirstenhof came together to help a family of goslings stuck in a manhole.
From ladies slowing cars down, people using pool nets, workers lifting manhole covers to community members braving the dark tunnels! The caring members of the Kirstenhof community attended to a family of goslings who fell down a manhole near Kirstenhof Primary School on Wednesday 27 June 2018.
“We LOVE good news stories and thank all of those who responded to the request for assistance posted by an alert resident on one of the Community Groups.” – Carolynne Franklin
It all started when an alert was posted on a community forum asking for assistance to help the goslings who had fallen into a manhole.
Some community members made their way to the site where two men, who were working in the area, lifted the heavy manhole cover for them to get to the babies.
Craig Fox and Stacy Edwards bravely navigated the dark tunnels but the entire community assisted to get the family back together!
Stacy Edwards commented: “The last little stranded gosling came running towards me when I got near it. It was so, so cute.
Congratulations must go to the entire team from the alert resident who put out the alarm, ladies slowing cars down, people who brought pool nets, workers who lifted the man hole cover, the BRILLIANT person who thought of the skateboard and the young man who happily loaned out his skateboard and to Craig for having a head torch on hand and loaning it so willingly.”
