The Tshemba Foundation is making real change in Limpopo and Mpumalanga. They are offering medical support and medicine to struggling hospitals and clinics.

Johannesburg, South Africa (02 October 2017) – The Tshemba Foundation was founded to recruit volunteers to work in the local hospitals and clinics in and around Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

The foundation work with both local and international doctors. They are open to all medical professionals, including young medical professionals eager to gain experience, retiring doctors, doctors on a sabbatical break and everyone in-between.

Listen to the Good Things Guy interview about this incredible project here:

The goal is to improve access to health care for the lower-income population in rural areas. The foundation also encourages doctors to pass along valuable knowledge to local medical providers. Doctors involved in the volunteer programme are sent where their skills are most needed.

Tshemba has funded a pioneering healthcare infrastructure project, the Hlokomela Women’s Centre, which offers breast and cervical cancer screening and treatment to local farm workers and their families and is the first of its kind in the region.

The volunteers are given the opportunity to experience living in the Bush. The Tshemba Foundation houses all volunteers at their luxury property in the Moditlo Game Reserve. The house has stunning views of the Drakensberg Mountains as well.

The Tshemba Foundation is changing the face of medicine in rural South Africa. With their dedication to bettering the lives of young and old, they are creating positive change within the communities they operate and enriching the lives of the volunteer doctors who join in their cause.
