Sunflower Dreams

Straight out of a romance film, a man decided that a simple bouquet wasn’t enough to celebrate his relationship’s 50th wedding anniversary. So, he planted a really big one, gifting his wife an entire field of sunflower dreams.

Kansas, USA (06 August, 2023) — Lee and Renee Wilson have been married for 50 years. Traditionally, folks call this the ‘golden anniversary’ and boy, did Lee take that literally in an act of love that will likely find its way into a romance film.

Thinking sunflowers and their warm, golden tones would be a good start, Lee didn’t stop at a simple bouquet. The Kansas farmer opted instead to plant a field of sunflower dreams so that Renee could walk through over a million sunflowers or 32 hectares of sunflower love.

Adding even more romance to the sunflower dreams, Lee reportedly made Operation 50th Anniversary happen secretly; with help from his son. Since May, they’ve been planting sunflowers left right and centre field so that the sunflowers could bloom right on schedule.

Luckily, Kansas is known for being particularly favourable to the flower, with weather well-suited for the romantic gesture that’s taken the internet by storm.

In fact, people were so moved by what might be the most wholesome anniversary gift of the year, many have travelled to see it in person (and we can just imagine the couples’ conversations on the way home).

So, if you’re settling for someone to text you back, think of Lee and remember that hopeless romantics do still exist in the world! And we think that’s a really good thing.
