Even in the middle of a busy shift in the bustling CBD, there is always enough time to be kind. Two Durban Metro Police officers were captured taking a moment to help guide a gogo through a busy intersection to get her safely to the other side.
Durban, South Africa – (08 January 2026) – Kindness is alive and well. And if you find yourself doubting this truth, you can trust South Africans to show you that even in a world filled with a lot of bad, goodness still very much exists in our people.
It’s who we are, and it was recently beautifully demonstrated by two Durban Metro Police officers who took a moment from their traffic duties over the demanding festive season to help a gogo cross a busy street.
A short video shared by Mmangaliso MaZuma Mpungose shows the officers walking alongside the elderly woman, making sure she safely crossed an intersection in Durban CBD, moments before the cars drove off.
“Don’t you just love it when the law takes its course by going the extra mile. Having courtesy and the heart to serve. This is indeed beautiful,” Mmangaliso wrote in the post’s caption.
The feel-good viral video has garnered over 9K likes and 277K views, warming hearts across the internet.
“This is the MOST heartwarming video I’ve seen! God bless those two officers,” one person commented.
And we couldn’t agree more. The beautifully captured moment may have just been a mere few minutes for these officers, but their kind gesture gave that gogo on a walking stick a sense of security as well as touched and inspired countless others, reminding us of the shared responsibility to look out for one another.
If your faith in humanity was dwindling, let this be one of those small moments that prove kindness is still very much alive – in busy shifts, chance encounters, and everyday moments
