Glen and Alex have undertaken a mammoth task… They are walking the entire length of the Orange River, some of the roughest terrains in South Africa, to raise money for charity. Along the way, they met Champ, their Lesotho backer.
Glen and Alex are ex-Royal Marines with a massive walk ahead of them. The pair decided to walk the full length of the Orange River to raise money for their two favourite charities. They are supporting ‘The Royal Marines Charity” and “Veterans for Wildlife.”
Their walk started in highlands of Lesotho and they will continue down through South Africa to the coastal Namib desert. The guys are walking completely unaided and only have what they need in their backpacks. They plan to stop and refuel at various points along the river.
Recently while walking in Lesotho, they met a man named Champ, who completely blew them away with his generosity and kindness.
They shared the story on their Facebook Page “ExpedOrange“. Read it below.
“We have met a lot of characters on our journey through Lesotho so far, but this man tops the list. His name is Champ.”
“Champ was driving past us and took the time to stop and have a chat, he was so interested in our expedition and our causes. Davo and I had also run out of water and he gave us 4L out of his own 5L bottle of fresh still water.”
“After saying our goodbyes and walking off Champ shouted to us ‘I need to give you guys a donation!’ We refused of course but he insisted we take a donation of R100. That R100 will be added to the beer and burger fund post exped!
I know now how he got his name, what an absolute CHAMP”
