Dianne Tipping-Woods was waiting on a parcel from the USA and had called a few times to check on it. A man at the post office promised to help her… boy, did he!
As South Africans, we are all aware of the frustrations that can occur when dealing with the South African postal service. The post office, for some, is a total nightmare.
Dianne Tipping-Woods was waiting on a parcel from the USA. She had called a number of times to follow up on when it would be arriving. The reason was that she lived about 3-hours away and didn’t want to make the trip unless the parcel was actually at the post office.
She spoke with a man named Jeffrey Fundama, an employee at the post office where her parcel was expected to arrive. He reassured her that he would let her know as soon as it arrived and make sure she got it.
What she didn’t expect was that Mr Fundama would go out of his way to ensure her parcel arrived safely at her doorstep.
“When I spoke to him on the phone earlier this week and he said he’d get my parcel to me, I hadn’t realised just how far he was willing to go to keep his word.”
Over the weekend, the parcel arrived and Jeffery placed it into his car and drove three hours out of Nelspruit to hand deliver the parcel to Dianne.
“Yesterday, after he knocked off from work, a post office employee, Mr Jeffrey Fundama, drove almost three hours from Nelspruit to personally deliver a parcel I had been waiting for from the USA. He then drove three hours back. In his own time. Under his own steam. With a smile.
“I believe I am one of many who have benefited from his commitment to his customers, which endures despite the fact that the post office vehicles are apparently out of commission, with no budget for repairs.”
Dianne was so moved by his effort to assist her that she thanked him on Facebook and also wrote letters to his bosses telling them of his phenomenal customer service.
