Two South African photographers have made it into the public voting stage of Red Bull Illume Special Image Quest 2020.
Global (27 May 2020) – Rene Swart and Craig Kolesky became the first South Africans to make it into the public voting stages of the Red Bull Illume Special Image Quest 2020. The public has until Sunday 28th June 2020 to vote for their favourite to make it into the next round.
Both Rene and Craig’s images have been selected in the Homework category, which celebrates the most creative adventure and action sports content made anywhere in or around a photographer’s home. Rene’s image captures a biker midair in the middle of a room while Craig’s image showcases a man-made out of Lego skiing through the snow. Their images can be viewed here.
Red Bull Illume Special Image Quest 2020 has four categories; Homework images, Unseen images, Throwback images, and Storytale. Each category includes still and moving images.
The competition started on 1st June 2020 and runs until 5th July 2020. Each week a selection of still and moving images are put out for public voting in each category. After that, a panel of judges consisting of photo editors, digital experts, and world-renowned athletes will select the category winner and, subsequently, the overall winner.
Each category (with the exception of Storytale) will have a still image winner and a moving image winner, resulting in: 1 Overall Still Image Winner, 1 Overall Moving Image Winner, and 1 Overall Storytale Winner. The winners will be announced on 30th July 2020. Each overall winner will receive an out of this world experience from Red Bull and their content will be added to the Red Bull Illume Exhibit Tour.
