Study sessions in the dark have paved the way to the brightest future! Sesona Masingili didn’t just survive the challenges of his environment; he mastered them, securing seven distinctions and a perfect 100% score in Accounting.
Eastern Cape, South Africa (23 January 2026) – With a phenomenal perfect score of 100% for accounting in his final matric results, Sesona Masingili is one of the few matriculants of the 2025 cohort in the country to excel in accounting.
The 18-year-old matriculant who attended Soqhayisa Senior Secondary School in the Eastern Cape scored an average of 94.3% and obtained an outstanding seven distinctions in the recent National Senior Certificate exams.
The driven teen is intelligent as he is hardworking, dedicating much of his time to his studies in his final year of school, despite challenges like negative peer pressure and load shedding that could have easily steered him off course.
While power cuts severely affected his study time, particularly at night, and schoolmates smoked or drank alcohol, Sesona resisted the pressure and focused on his books.
Sesona states that the support he received from his school principal and teachers had a positive impact on his academic achievement, as did the extra classes he attended.
And now, his dedication, perseverance and book smarts have paid off. Sesona is headed to the University of Pretoria to study BCom Accounting Science, to become a chartered accountant!
According to UP, the top achiever is looking forward to his new journey, and his message to the Class of 2026 is rooted in three crucial factors: hard work, discipline, and focus.
“Never stop working hard and always stay disciplined and focused; never slack off, because hard work pays off,” he says.
Congratulations on your outstanding results, Sesona. You rose above the distractions of your surroundings to claim the spot that was always meant for you, and we’re so excited to see you chase your CA dream!
