One Small Act of Kindness paid South Africa’s kindness forward to seven animal charities in need of assistance after they took in fire victims earlier this year.

Johannesburg, South Africa – Sammy Parrish from ‘One Small Act of Kindness’ has spread the kindess of others to seven animal charities after a crowdfund was successfully funded.

It all started a few months ago when an animal shelter burned to the ground. The shelter was quickly assisted by the public with several other shelters coming forward to take the animals in. One Small Act of Kindness set up a crowdfund in the name of the animal shelter as a way to help cover any costs as a result of the fire.

Sadly, shortly after the fire, Carte Blanche did an exposè on the shelter, revealing horrific animal abuse and cruelty. This left everyone who had donated to the crowdfund, shocked and concerned. Thankfully the organisation kept the funds in their name.

Now that the crowdfund has paid out, One Small Act of Kindness has chosen seven of the animal charities that helped after the fire, to become recipients of the money they raised. The money will help them cover the costs of caring for the animals as well as pay off several outstanding vet bills.

“A few months back Purrpaws Rescue burnt to the ground. Sammy Parrish, who is part of One Small Act of Kindness, setup a Back a Buddy Account to raise funds for the shelter. Fast forward 3 weeks and the shelter was called out for severe animal abuse and neglect. The money was redirected away from the charity to One Small Act of Kindness & we’re happy to say we’ve just got our pay out!

We’ve done our research and we’d like to handover R5150 to each of the following animal shelters – who took a large amount of animals after the fire and need assistance with vet bills and operating costs, to keep them going.”

The charities receiving a portion of the crowdfund are as follows:

The 9th Day – NPC 2015/123593/08
PETS JHB – Pet Empowerment in Townships
A New Hope Dog Rescue
SPCA Vereeniging & Vanderbijlpark
Maltese, French Poodle & Yorkie Rescue South Africa
Husky Heaven Rescue – NPC 2014/153344/08
Ridgeback Rehab

“We hope this small contribution helps you do the amazing work you do, for another month. We see you all, we appreciate you all!”

While the reason these funds had to be redirected is devastating, our hearts are so warm seeing the money get used for doing more good for dogs (and cats) in need. These animal charities do everything in their power to make sure animals are safe and cared for.
