Zhara’s Little Lamb Project started when a little girl fighting cancer wanted other children undergoing hospital treatment to feel the same hope her lamb gifted her. Now, her soft sidekick project has spread an abundance of joy across South Africa.

South Africa (24 July, 2023) — What began as a little project of love driven by 11-year Zhara du Toit on a mission to spread hope to children spending time in hospital has become a force of kindness to be reckoned with in the best way. Zhara’s Little Lamb Project has seen soft side kicks of hope travel near and far across South Africa from Bloemfontein to Tygerberg, and we’re celebrating how this initiative is stitching kindness into the lives of all who encounter it!

Zhara’s Little Lamb Project began after her first major operation where she was gifted a  sidekick of her own to make the scary experience softer. This inspired a desire to replicate that feeling of comfort for other children who, even if they weren’t going through cancer like Zhara, could still use the support for any health battles they faced.

“When Zhara launched her “Little Lamb” campaign, the idea was to distribute little lambs with a message of hope, every time she visited the hospital. The response was overwhelming, enabling us to send these little lambs across South Africa.”—shared non-profit 2Cchange.

The ‘Little Project’ has now become something massively impactful with people from all over committing to knitting, crocheting and collecting lambs across the country.

Recently, Zhara’s Project shared all the places the lambs have flocked to, and it’s just another reminder that any act—no matter how small it might seem in inception—has the chance of impacting a nation for the kinder.
