Stephan R is a young musician, diagnosed with autism, who uses his incredible musical talents to make this world a better place.
Stephan Rosenmayer is a young musical prodigy diagnosed with autism. He does not view this as a disability though, using his talents to not only show the world that personal challenges should never stand in the way of reaching your dreams, but also to inspire others facing similar challenges.
Stephan was born prematurely in 2002 and spent the first nine weeks of his life in ICU after having ruptured both lungs at birth. Diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (Autism spectrum) when he was three, Stephan faced many medical and social challenges.
He displayed a remarkable appreciation for music favouring percussion. He developed prolific skills as a drummer and his first appearance at a corporate event was at the age of seven. He has subsequently performed at numerous shows, including Barnyard theatres and corporate events and even on TV.
On 1 September 2018 he is hosting “A NIGHT OUT” at the Rockwood Theatre to raise funds and create awareness for Autism SA.
Stephan’s best friend since Grade 1, Lebohang Mokoena (who was diagnosed with ADHD), has become an accomplished voice-over artist, and will join Stephan on stage as your tour guide through this musical journey.
“A NIGHT OUT” is an event where 15-year-old Stephan showcases not only his talents, but does so with the support of an 11 piece band, including the renown talents of Monique Steyn and Pedro Barbosa, as well as the UNISA choir and the Margie Houbert dancers.”
The purpose of this production is to create awareness of the ability and talent of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and raise funds for Autism South Africa.
