As Ofentse prepares to leave her neighbourhood and embark on an incredible academic journey, she has made a conscious and heartfelt decision to leave her community better than she found it.
Kagiso, South Africa (28 November 2025) – Ordinary people who go out of their way to do the extraordinary are the types of people Good Things Guy will celebrate time and time again!
When Ofentse Moleki was presented with the opportunity to leave her neighboured and pursue an incredible academic opportunity, she made it a point to make a difference in her community one last time before packing her bags.
With period poverty being one of the social issues she’s most passionate about, Ofentse decided to donate 100 sanitary pads to community development workers in Kagiso, formally known as Seventeen54.
“I’m passionate about ending period poverty and decided to take this route one last time before I venture into something new next year,” the UJ alumna says.
Ofentse is a firm believer in the African adage “Motho ke motho ka batho” (A person is a person through other people) and has been a voice and activist in Kagiso, and now prepares for a new season exploring a passion in academia. Her hope is that those she is leaving behind will follow her example to make a difference where it is needed.
“With these 100 sanitary pads, I’m bidding farewell to my community and believe more community development workers will continue from the initiatives we have started,” she shares.
There’s a lot to admire about a person who never forgets the background that shaped who they are and paved the path to a greater future. Ofentse’s commitment to supporting and uplifting her community, right up to the moment she prepared to pursue her academic dreams, is a truly commendable and inspiring demonstration of selfless leadership and community love. We wish her the very best as she embarks on a new chapter.
