Two exceptional South African learners have been selected to attend the prestigious Academic Achievers Tour in 2025 – but they need you to help make it happen!

Pretoria, South Africa (16 September 2024) – Two young men have been invited to attend a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, which celebrates the academic excellence of young learners across the country, the 10th Annual Academic Achievers Tour in 2025.

Jewan Gouws of Hoërskool Oos-Moot has been invited to attend and participate in the tour where he will get to visit top universities in the USA or UK & Ireland, attend lectures on topics like political science and economics as well as explore famous sites and cities.

So, while the opportunity is absolutely amazing for any determined academic achiever, it comes at a great cost.

The USA tour is estimated at over R85,000, while the UK and Ireland tour is estimated at over R76,000.

These expenses cover the tour, insurance, and airport taxes.

Speaking about the desire to get her son to attend the tour, Jewan’s mom, Tersia, shared:

“This trip could really have a positive impact on Jewan, but it’s a big expense for our family. We’re hoping our community can pitch in to help get him there. Any amount helps—seriously. Whether it’s R50 or R500, it all adds up.”

But Tersia doesn’t just want to see her son make it to the tour. After learning about how another young man, Edrich Erasmus of John Vorster Tegnologiese Hoërskool – who she has never met before – was afforded the same opportunity, she just had to share about it too!

Edrich also hopes to raise funds to experience all that the academic tour has to offer and open his intelligent mind to a world of opportunities!

Edrich’s mom, Eugénie also stressed the importance of what a wonderful opportunity this would be for him.

“Any donation big or small will assist us to help him to have this wonderful experience.  It would mean the world to us and him if you could assist us. Together, we can help Edrich to experience this educational journey,” Eugénie adds.

Both learners have Back-a-Buddy pages where the public can donate to help them realise their dreams. Visit Support Jewan and Support Edrich to make a contribution.
