Former corporate executive and entrepreneur, Vusi Sindane, completes a gruelling 3257-kilometre cycle from Musina to Cape Town, raising funds for 10,000 school shoes for underprivileged children in South Africa, highlighting the dire need for proper footwear and its impact on education.

Western Cape, South Africa (24 March 2023) – Vusi Sindane, a remarkable individual with a passion for making a difference, has just completed an incredible 3257-kilometre cycle from Musina to Cape Town. But this was not just any ordinary journey. Sindane embarked on this epic adventure to raise funds for an important cause: providing 10,000 school shoes to underprivileged children in South Africa.

Sindane’s journey is a testament to his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others. His background as a former corporate executive, software engineer, and entrepreneur has given him the skills and determination to tackle this enormous challenge. However, it is his role as a husband of 10 years, a father to six children, and an active citizen that truly fuels his desire to create positive change in his community.

Born in the small village of Maganagobushwa, Mpumalanga, the kind South African’s entrepreneurial spirit emerged at a young age. Even during primary school, he started his first business, selling sweets and sandwiches to his classmates. In high school, he embraced cutting-edge technology by selling airtime through SMS when scratch cards were still prevalent. Sindane’s resourcefulness didn’t stop there. He seized the opportunity to learn computer repair and software development from a neighbour who ran a small computer campus.

Driven by his personal experiences and the challenges faced by millions of children in South Africa, Sindane recognized a pressing need to provide school shoes to those who need them most. With an astounding 10.1 million children walking to school every day, the majority of whom live in rural towns and villages, it is disheartening to learn that many do not have proper school shoes. For those who do, their shoes are often worn out and a source of shame.

As winter approaches, the situation becomes even more critical. Many children resort to using paper and plastics to insulate their feet from the cold. Sadly, the freezing temperatures often force them to stay home, missing out on valuable education. Sindane saw this as an injustice that needed urgent attention.

Through his efforts, Sindane successfully garnered support from individuals, businesses, and organizations alike. Donations are still pouring in from all corners of the country but it’s going to take a lot more to provide 10,000 school shoes to deserving children.

“A dream accomplished. I cycled 3257km from Musina to Cape Town for 10,000 school shoes. Now the campaign for school shoes begins.” – Vusi Sindane

His dedication to uplifting his community, coupled with his entrepreneurial spirit, has created a ripple effect of positive change that will resonate for years to come.
