Imagine a gentle soul, Wellington, spending his days in a wheelchair, longing for a furry friend. Then, picture a sweet dog named Rolo, who, unlike most dogs, wasn’t intimidated by the wheelchair but instead jumped right into Wellington’s lap, solidifying their instant connection and leaving our hearts pumping custard!

Gauteng, South Africa (24 February 2025) – The magic of animal adoption knows no bounds!

This is beautifully captured in the heartwarming story of a family looking for a furry companion to bring happiness and meaning to Wellington’s days as a young man who spends most of his time in a wheelchair.

While most dogs shy away from the wheelchair because they find it to be intimidating, according to Paws R Us: SA, sweet-boy Rolo proved to be a delightful exception!

“Rue and family came to visit our site about two weeks ago, and they were looking for a doggy companion for Wellington, who is paralysed and reliant on his wheelchair.

“Rolo came straight out to meet the family and jumped straight onto Wellington’s lap,” shared Paws R Us.

Judging by this instant connection, we think it’s safe to say that Wellington and Rolo are a paw-some match made in heaven!

We are excited to see that Wellington will have the opportunity to build a relationship filled with unconditional love and priceless moments of joy. Rolo too, has gained a forever devoted friend who will take good care of him!

The volunteers at Paws R Us were just as touched by the immediate bond, recognising the start of a beautiful friendship:

“This adoption has blown us away. our boy is going to be so blessed – it is always wonderful to find humans who dote on their dogs, and who rearrange their lives to make sure that the furry ones in the home are safe, loved and treasured. Thank you, Rue & family,” they said.
