World First

An Early Education programme by a local children’s charity has achieved a world first. They have been awarded a special certification.

Early education plays a major role in lowering crime rates and uplifting the economy. Preschools 4 Africa is a National non-profit organisation that has over 25 years of experience in early childhood development as well as community development. Working in rural areas, they hope to have a pre-school within walking distance of every town in South Africa.

In 2017 Play-with-a-Purpose Educational Trust t/a Preschools 4 Africa became the first-ever educational institution worldwide to achieve an ISO 9001:2008 certification.

This is a world first, something no other university, school or educational training facility has ever achieved. ISO 9001 is the International Standard Organisation that specifies requirements for a quality management system. The certification is a massive step in the right direction for early education in South Africa.

It is exciting that a small South African non-profit educational organisation could achieve this ahead of all other educational institutions.

Through this achievement, South African early childhood education is becoming world class and creating hope for the future.
