Lientjie Mynhardt sent a parcel via the South African Post Service to New Zealand and when the parcel went missing, she found a postal angel who helped her track it down 14 months later.

Benoni, South Africa (28 February 2022) – Every South African has experienced the postal service to some degree of annoyance but even when it felt frustrating, Lientjie Mynhardt refused to give up. She sent a parcel in December 2020 and it never arrived at its destination. Lientjie met a woman at the post office who worked tirelessly to track it down.

The parcel was sent to New Zealand in December 2020 and after a few weeks, Lientjie grew concerned that it had gone missing. She queried the parcel at her local post office and was met with no helpful answers.

Eventually, Lientjie was on the verge of giving up completely but she was connected to Pauline at the Post Office, who made it her mission to track down the missing parcel.

Pauline was able to finally track the parcel on the South African side and make sure it was sent on to its final destination in New Zealand.

Lientjie was in awe of Pauline’s dedication to resolving the issue and after 14 months, it was delivered to the person waiting for it in New Zealand, on the 24th of February 2022.

Pauline helped ease a massive frustration for Lientjie and restored her faith in the South African postal service. It was after the fact that Lientjie was told that parcels to New Zealand in 2020 and 2021 were on hold due to the pandemic. Many parcels just like hers, have been caught up in this hold. Thankfully, as the world gets back to normal, parcels can start heading out again. So if you sent one during 2020/2021, don’t give up – follow up.

Lientjie took to her local community group, the Benoni Community Network 1, to praise Pauline’s efforts and for getting the job done after so many failed her.

The community has been flooding the comment section with praise and are thankful for Pauline’s work within the postal service. She is one of many who are working in a broken system, to serve South Africans to the best of their ability!
