South Africa (19 October 2025) – Jaces Bornman, Head Guide at Mhondoro Safari Lodge, recently shared his quick tutorial on how to make ‘the best coffee in the world’ – a ‘Ranger’s Coffee’, or ‘Ranger’s Special’.
Often served at safari lodges, rangers usually whip this one for guests on early morning or late afternoon game drives.
It often comes with spectacular scenery and birdsong. Sometimes rusks, muffins, and biltong.
The drink is typically a mix of hot chocolate and coffee, but the key ingredient here is a shot of Amarula.

We’d recommend proper ‘moer’ coffee and a healthy swish of Amarula.
