As the Robin Hood Foundation prepares for its annual Celebration of Life event for the extraordinary students at Ethembeni School, generous community support is needed to help fill 145 party packs and make this holiday season unforgettable.

Durban, South Africa (07 October 2026) – It is almost that time of year again when the Robin Hood Foundation brings colour, fun, music, games, and all the goodies to the children of Ethembeni School!

The Celebration of Life event has become a much-loved annual highlight on the Foundation’s calendar. It’s a day dedicated entirely to connecting with and celebrating children navigating physical and intellectual disability with inspiring resilience.

For 40 years, Ethembeni, a state-subsidised school for children with physical and visual impairments, has served as a home away from home in Outer West Durban for many who travel hundreds of kilometres to receive specialised education.

And every year, without fail, the Robin Hood Foundation makes it a priority to bring pure joy and the magic of the holiday season to these precious souls.

“On Friday, 16 October 2026, we’re heading back to Ethembeni for the Celebration of Life morning filled with music, dancing, laughter, rides, treats, games and LOTS of love,” the charity said.

“Ethembeni is home to 145 children from Grade R to Grade 7, many of whom live in the school’s boarding hostels, far from their families. This is their day. A day to forget about limitations, have fun and simply celebrate being wonderfully, uniquely THEM.”

While a DJ, face painter, rides, inflatables, and a delicious lunch are already secured, the Foundation is still looking for donations toward items like toiletries, stationery and treats to fill party packs for all 145 children.

The school has also provided a supplies wishlist, which Robin Hood has shared online in hopes of reaching generous supporters.

If you are in a position to donate 145 of any item on the list or make a monetary contribution, please get in touch with Charlotte by emailing [email protected].
